Far out, medication causing you more issues than helping then?

Oh man, already knowing I have ADHD has made me feel a little less weird! I guess it's reassuring knowing there's an explanation for some of the things I do.

It's been interesting with medication, like I've had perhaps slightly higher expectations, but also thinking they've worn off and then the whole rabbit hole of maybe having ASD and that's why they don't work, but gauranteed I notice a difference. They're definitely more of a tool, or buffer that helps recharge my battery so to speak. To put it simply, it's a bit of an assist so there's still lots of work for me to do.

Man you've really been around the medication rollercoaster, I can relate. Good to hear you've been better with Heidi around :)

Yea well I was diagnosed with dyslexia and it goes hand in hand with ADHD, panic attack disorder I was diagnosed a while ago but primarily looked at stoping them and not root cause on the anxiety and dropping my high blood pressure , which is a lot haha
I'lts great you were able to find out some of the root causes and can start to work around them.

Yea it's kinda makes you feel like you can explain a lot of things in past life that tee up with it, just make you feel like your not weird and there's a reason I suppose.

Oh wow, fancy that! As in Heidi thought she wasn't diverse enough or the producers thought that? Lol yeah the dates are quite stereotypical! I'm surprised they didn't do more dates that were activities as me personally, I couldn't stand formal dates and found activities helped me the most.

Interesting that you've thought it's dyslexia and panic attacks, as for me mine's always stemmed from clinical depression and anxiety, but getting down in to the root cause I now know it's not clinical depression and the anxiety part I feel i'm starting to unravel why it happens (sensory overload via lots of noise, people I don't know, music I hate and not having any control over said situation).

Do you feel a bit of relief taking the tests and finding that it's likely you've got it?

With my meds (recently gone back on my previous ones after trialing another) I've found they help with my procrastination, ability to initiate what I want to do, my brain isn't as sluggish and thinking is a lot clearer, so talking is easier as i dont hang up on my words as much. I've got the primarily inattentive type, so little to no hyperactivity at all. The way i describe being on meds is that it's oil to a machine, makes the cogs run smoothly. It also improves my mood and im less irritable, so i generally feel happier and more socialable.

I was on SSRI's too, and found being on stimulants instead has helped far better than SSRI's, especially for mood. That doesn't stop getting stuck in a thought loop and causing myself to feel down, but i can get myself out of it. Maybe there's an actual reason for your panic attacks, like a certain situation, noise, event or something?

That's good to know there's lots of support groups for ASD. There isn't as much for ADHD it seems.

Socialising is just a struggle haha. Ahh yeah i get the whole working differently part, work is challenging enough without throwing a neurodiverse brain in to the mix!

Fun fact though, what's put me back on this path has been due to watching love on the spectrum and me thinking shit, I relate so damn much to their socialising difficulties

I've researched so damn much since late last yeat, but recently stopped as I was working myself up way too much, so putting ASD on the backburner a little, but still having it in the back of my mind

Socialising difficulties, as in the difficulties I do have with socialising aren't something which is explained by my ADHD, but rather I can relate more of those difficulties to ASD, as I can for other difficulties too which span ADHD and ASD

Damn, now we know a heck tonne more about each other in such a short time span haha

I'm looking for myself. After getting my assessment of ADHD, being on medication and going once a month to my psychologist at Hobart ADHD, we discovered that a few of my challenges cross over with ASD, however socialising doesn't which I have a great deal of difficulty with. I took a couple of quick tests with my psych and found I sit on the border of being classified as having ASD, so it's been this constant back and fourth thought of whether it's worthwhile seeking a diagnosis as it may help to explain (and put me at ease) a lot about me.

Oh man, hmm something I'll need to consider.

If you're looking for an ADHD diagnosis, I got mine through Hobart ADHD. Granted it wasn't a full day assessment, more so questions spread over a couple of session that involved me discussing my history and looking over school reports. It was a clinical psychologist, so not officially "medically" diagnosed, but my psychiatrist was able to prescribe me medications based on my assessment. I'd suggest contacting Hobart ADHD - long wait list but they're only in Bellerive.

But then again, do you market it for "Gaming PC" repairs where people (likely parents buying pre built gaming pc's for their kids) have no idea wtf they're doing or how to fix an issue, and neither do their kids
