Regional Autistic Engagement Network

It has come to our attention that some members are seeking answers around the closure of Autism Tasmania. We acknowledge that the closure of Autism Tasmania was both sudden and deeply felt across our community. It is entirely understandable that many people continue to seek clarity and answers about what occurred.

However, we would like to gently clarify that it is not within RAEN’s role or responsibility to provide those answers.

RAEN’s purpose is to:
• Support and advocate for Autistic and ADHD individuals, along with their families, carers and support networks across Tasmania.
• Facilitate meaningful peer connections within and between these communities.
• Promote broader awareness and understanding of Autism and ADHD, including by strengthening the capacity of parents, carers, and the wider community to support and include neurodivergent people.

We also wish to acknowledge that the period surrounding the closure of Autism Tasmania was an immensely distressing and traumatic time for many former staff. They are under no obligation to publicly share their experiences, and we ask that their privacy — and their wellbeing as neurodivergent members of our community — be respected.

For those seeking further information regarding the closure, we recommend contacting the appointed liquidators:
Rogers Reidy Hobart

At RAEN, we are working hard to build a safe, supportive and inclusive space for all members of our community, including the many volunteers who generously contribute their time. We kindly ask that all community members be mindful of the emotional impact certain topics may carry, and approach each other with care and respect in this shared space.

Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support.

Warm regards,
The RAEN Team
